Etegami is an intuitive, colorful folk art consisting of simple Sumi ink drawings paired with a few thoughtful words and watercolor, typically drawn on postcards or on Washi paper to be used as letters. The name comes from the Japanese word 絵 (e), which means "picture," and 手紙 (tegami), which means "letter."
Using Sumi Ink as an outline and Gansai Paint for color, Etegami is a simple, in-the-moment inspiration painted freehand. One simply draws and writes what's on their mind or in their heart at the time with intuitive fluidity, without overthinking. At the end, words are added to create a card to keep for oneself or to gift to others.
You'll find all the information - from basic concept of Etegami to specific uses of each of the tools included- in this brochure!
