Looking for new arts and crafts ideas to open up your creative side? U-Can Japanese Creations has the projects for you. We have a variety of arts and crafts that derived from the ancestors of Japanese culture. Our arts and crafts are not only great ways to create, but they are a great way to learn, master, and share.
What we offer:
Chigiri-e is paper collage art using Washi paper. “Chigiri” means to tear or shred, and “e” means picture in Japanese. You will use dyed Washi paper that has a watercolor painting appearance which is used to create realistic or abstract images. It can be used to create frame-able art, cards, and all kinds of crafts.
Chirimen is a hand-sewn art form that uses Kimono fabric. This art form has been passed down since the Edo period of 1603 and can be fashioned into modern and traditional accessories, whimsical ornaments, practical accessories, and much more.
Etegami is an intuitive, colorful folk art that uses simple Sumi ink drawings combined with meaningful words. These are typically drawn on postcards or Washi paper and used as letters. The word comes from “e” which means picture and “tegami” which means letter in Japanese.
When you are thinking of arts and crafts ideas, why not learn some history, learn a new culture, and master a new skill? This will all be while creating meaningful art for yourself or to give as a gift.
