Challenge Yourself With This Traditional Japanese Washi Paper Art
Board Size: 9.5 x 10.6 inches Level: Advanced
Since ancient times, the Japanese have regarded plum blossoms and the voices of bush warblers as the heralds of spring. The bush warbler's distinctive voice is so popular that all Japanese can imitate it. The traditional flower card game hanafuda consists of four cards for each month of the year. Each card depicts the seasonal appearance of that particular month, and February's card has the plum blossom and the bush warbler on it, so this picture is traditionally the true symbol of the first blush of spring in Japan.
